Germany is facing a demographic challenge as its population is shrinking at a more rapid pace than previously projected. The birth rate in Germany currently stands at 1.35, significantly below the replacement level of 2.1. This trend is projected to result in a population of 83.5 million by the end of 2025, a decrease of 100,000 from earlier estimates, according to C. Katharina Spiess, director of the Federal Institute for Population Research.
