The Canadian Premier League (CPL) is experimenting with a "daylight" offside rule, a novel approach to officiating that aims to simplify offside decisions and promote more attacking play. Instead of the current strict interpretation, a player will only be considered offside if there is "daylight" between the attacker and the defender.
