In 1926, Violet Gibson, an Irishwoman with a history of mental health issues, attempted to assassinate Italian dictator Benito Mussolini in Rome. She shot Mussolini in the face at close range, but he survived with relatively minor injuries. The event caused a sensation at the time, and Gibson was subsequently deported back to Britain, where she spent the rest of her life in a mental institution.Articole despre acest subiect
